Following its availability for Vodacom and Telkom Business Mobile subscribers, BlackBerry holding company Research In Motion (RIM) and Cell C have announced that the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet (read our  review) is now available from Cell C stores.

Subscribers will be able to get the BlackBerry PlayBook (Wi-fi only 32 GB version) along with a BlackBerry Curve 9300 smartphone on Cell C's BusinessChat 400 contract for R737 per month over 24 months. They can also opt for the BlackBerry Bold 9780 smartphone and BlackBerry PlayBook tablet (same model) on a BusinessChat 1000 contract at R1587 per mont for 24 months. 
 
The BlackBerry PlayBook operates on the QNX-developed BlackBerry Tablet OS and is powered by a snappy 1 GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU, with graphics being handled by the PowerVR SGX540 GPU. This tablet boasts a 7" (1024 x 600) LCD capacitive touchscreen and a 5 MP rear-facing auto-focus camera and 3 MP front-facing snapper for full HD (1080p) video recording.
 
Rui Brites, director of product management for Africa at RIM said: “With its industry-leading performance, easy manageability and enterprise grade security, the BlackBerry PlayBook is an ideal tablet for the enterprise and SME user. The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will enable business customers to take communication and productivity to the next level.”

“We are delighted to launch the BlackBerry PlayBook to our subscribers,” added Simon Camerer, Cell C’s executive head of marketing. “In addition to its many benefits for business users, the BlackBerry PlayBook offers an exceptional multimedia and web experience that our customers will enjoy.”

In related news, RIM has delayed the launch of BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 until February next year and unveiled the Porsche Design P’9981 smartphone.
