Treyarch's recently released first person shooter extravaganza, Call of Duty: Black Ops, has been in the news of late both for its ability to break sales records but also for its unfortunate bugs and problems.

While players on the Xbox 360 have been spared from errors for the most part, PC and PlayStation 3 (PS3) players have felt the full brunt of the bugs.

While the developers have released several patches over recent weeks, problems are still persisting, especially on the PS3 version of the game.

As Examiner reported, Treyarch this morning released a new patch for the PS3 version of the game, aimed at fixing a number of connection-related bugs. However it doesn't seem to have done the trick, with many users actually reporting an increase in problems.

Gamers have been venting their frustrations on the game's official forums as well as on the PlayStation site, but for now it seems the problems will persist.

Complaints include waiting way too long to find games to connect with, being dropped from in-game lobbies, being dropped from games while playing and good old fashioned game crashes. There also still seems to be connection and host migration errors present.

Another interesting and very unwelcome change has appeared on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, since it seems the ability to mute players in the lobby has been removed. No word on whether the same applies to the PC version. In our opinion, losing the ability to mute loud and obnoxious players from the COD lobbies is one of the gravest errors we've seen for the game thus far.

As bugs continue to plague gameplay on systems other than the Xbox 360, here’s hoping that the next Call of Duty installment will be a true multi platform game.
