Celebrities share their iGoogle
By Thomas McKinnon 4 June 2009 | Categories: newsView and share your favourite celebrity’s homepage with Google’s new iGoogle Showcase.
Celebs and thought leaders like Al Gore, Wyclef Jean and Donald Trump are making their iGoogle pages open to the rest of us non-celebs, non-thought leaders. According to Google the service allows you to, “Discover new and interesting gadgets and themes as you browse iGoogle homepages created by world-renowned celebrities and thought leaders. Like what you see? Add stuff to your own homepage with just a click.”
While this service may appeal to some, it appears to be yet another social media service turned celeb broadcasting vehicle, like Twitter or Facebook. Forgive us, but we were under the impression that services such as iGoogle were about the individual expressing themselves and interacting, rather than a tool for celebs to self-promote.
