DStv Mobile now available through Mac OS X
By Hanleigh Daniels 22 November 2011 | Categories: newsFollowing the announcement that the Drifta supports a range of Android-operating mobile devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy SII smartphone, Multichoice has now revealed that Apple’s Mac OS X is the latest computer operating system (OS) to sport compatibility with the DStv Drifta as well as the Drifta USB.
Users simply have to download the application from the Mac App store by doing the following:
1. Launch the app store from your Mac.
2. Search for DStv Mobile decoder in the search field.
3. Click on the free/install button once the app is found.
4. The application will now be installed on your computer.
The same channels in the genres of sport, music, general entertainment, news and cartoons are available via all DStv Mobile capable devices the likes of the Drifta, Drifta USB and various DVB-H enabled mobile phones, at the same subscription fee of R36 per month. DStv Premium subscribers pay no subscription to access DStv Mobile.
For Mac users the minimum system requirements are an Apple Mac computer that is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better and operates on Mac OS X 10.6.8. The user’s computer should also boasts at least 1 GB of RAM as well as a minimum hard-disk space of 100 MB.
DStv Mobile coverage is available in the nine major cities of South Africa including Pretoria and Johannesburg and users can visit the DStv Mobile site, to check for network coverage as well as for more info on compatible devices.

In related news DStv Mobile also recently partnered with MTN to launch a 3G streaming Mobile TV service, allowing MTN subscribers to watch DStv channels on their handsets and announced the Walka Handheld TV.
