With the date for the Canon Expo creeping inexorably closer, now a mere two and a half weeks away, the line-up and schedule of speakers for the Expo has been revealed. The speakers will address a broad range of photographic disciplines, including fashion, wildlife, aerial photography, macro, music, sport, conservation and aviation.

The schedule is as follows:

Friday 10.30am - Clinton Lubbe – Fashion and Video with your DSLR

Friday 12.30pm - Manus van Dyk – Macro

Friday 2.30pm - Liam Lynch – Music

Friday 4.30pm - Brian Worley – Workflow

Saturday 2.30pm - Heinrich van den Bergh – Wildlife

Saturday 2.30pm - Riaan Manser – Iceland

Sunday 10.30am - Richard du Toit – Aerial and Wildlife

Sunday 12.30pm - Justin de Reuck – Aviation

Sunday 2.30pm - Craig Dutton – Sport

Sunday 4.30pm - David Oosthuizen – Conservation

The workshops will apparently accommodate about 700 people, on a first come first served basis, which is another way of saying ‘get there early to secure your place’. This will join the Expo’s integrated Canon Roadshow and its photographic competition as main features of the event, alongside the opportunity to go hands on with Canon’s various product ranges, including compact cameras and DSLRs.

The company has also promised that there will be show specials that people will be able to take advantage of at the event. The Canon Expo, which will run from 9th to 11th December, will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre and will be free to enter.

Michelle Janse van Vuuren, marketing manager at Canon South Africa, explained that the company has made entrance to its Expo free because it did not believe that its existing and potential customers should have to pay to interact with Canon products. “Our Expo is an unprecedented opportunity for us to showcase our products under one roof and also give visitors the opportunity to experience them first-hand,” she elaborated.

In recent news, Canon launched its flagship pro DSLR aimed at professional photographers, the EOS 1D X as well as its Cinema EOS system  for cinematographers.
