Dell introduces the Vostro V130
By Hanleigh Daniels 16 February 2011 | Categories: newsDell recently unveiled the Vostro V130 notebook, dubbing it “the world’s most beautiful business laptop”.
The Vostro V130 is one of the thinnest (17 mm) and lightest (starting at 1.6 kg) 13" notebooks available and has been designed for small business. It is constructed out of aluminium that has been reinforced with zinc hinges and also features magnesium alloy palm rest. This means that it will be able to take the occasional bumps and knocks on the road.
This notebook is also the first ultra-thin notebook PC to offer Hyperbaric Cooling, which is an Intel Advanced Cooling Technology, to assist it in staying quiet as well as cool.
“Small and mid-sized firms are re-examining their IT needs and are ready to implement technology that gives them comprehensive access to all the capabilities they need, even while on the road,” said Ray Boggs, vice president of small and medium business research at IDC.
“Notebook PCs are on SMB shopping lists in a big way as firms shift from desktops and implement product refreshes that have long been delayed. Dell continues to keep SMB needs in focus with effective design, connectivity options and more processing muscle.”
Dell’s Vostro V130 operates on Windows 7 and is powered by the new Intel Core ULV processor, boasts a full-sized keyboard, an HDMI port and 13.3" high-definition (HD) WLED display. In terms of added connectivity it sports Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11n Wi-Fi, two USB 2.0 ports, a shared USB/eSATA port, as well as a VGA port. The Vostro also features a new SIM card slot and upgraded built-in webcam.
“With the V130, we are adding the functionality customers asked for without sacrificing the beautiful design they fell in love with in the V13,” stated Dion Visagie, channel manager, Dell Consumer and SMB Africa. “Increasingly, the Vostro laptop is becoming the must-have travel companion for today’s global entrepreneurs.”
The Vostro V130 is available now from Drive Control, Tarsus and Pinnacle, starting at a recommended retail price of R10 999.
