Dell has launched a new addition to its business-focused Vostro line, the Vostro V131. The company explained that the new notebook, which is targeted at highly mobile business professionals, is one of the lightest and thinnest notebooks in the Vostro portfolio to date.

On the specifications side, the notebook sports a second generation Intel Core i5 processor, 13.3” High Definition LED Display (1366 x 768) with anti-glare and up to a rather paltry (in today’s terms) 2 GB DDR3 memory.

Most important for a notebook geared towards mobility, however, is its battery life. The Vostro aims to address this concern with a removable (which also means replaceable) 6-cell battery that the company asserts will deliver up to nine and a half hours of battery life.

The new Dell Vostro V131 is firmly aimed at highly mobile professionals.

In line with its business focus, the Vostro V131 also offers a variety of connectivity options, such as WWAN, WLAN and Bluetooth 3.0, while a standard fingerprint reader caters for data security. Two USB 3.0 ports, a chiclet keyboard with a backlit option for working in dimly lit environment such as airplanes, and quick launch keys are also onboard. Additional features that cater for online collaboration and voice over IP (VOIP) include a full HD camera, digital array microphones and built-in Skype.

“We designed the Vostro V131 to deliver fast, uninterrupted multitasking for today’s business challenges,” said Dion Visagie, Dell South Africa channel manager. “The result is a feature-rich notebook for mobile professionals who want full performance to support their technology demands without sacrificing design and portability. In addition, the V131 offers services and software solutions that improve productivity and data security,” he added. The Dell Vostro V131 is currently available and has an RRP of R10999.
