Rumours surrounding a possible PlayStation Phone have been circulating around the internet since last year, and now we've finally received solid proof that the device exists, albeit not from an official Sony source.

Chinese tech website IT168 are the ones responsible for bringing us full exposure of the device, though how exactly they managed to get their hands on a (presumed) prototype remains a mystery.

According to Engadget, the exposure reveals a lot about the phone, including that it's probably powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 CPU with a Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU helping to take care of the graphical workloads.

The device is Xperia-branded, thus making it a Sony Ericsson release, and will also feature a 1500 mAh battery, 4” LCD display with a 854 x 480 pixel resolution, 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording, 512 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, microSD card slot, SIM slot and a micro USB port.

No games have as yet been slated for the device with the game launcher app (called the PlayStation Pocket) still empty. It is still unclear as to what types of games the PlayStation Phone will run when it launches, speculation has pointed to PSOne games or PSP games but an entirely new line-up is also possible. Also unclear is how, if at all, the device will interact with the PS3.

With so many leaks already happening, the question remains as to when Sony will finally admit that the device actually exist. Once the official unveiling does happen pricing, availability and game details are likely to be announced.
