Epson launches its new projectors locally
By Hanleigh Daniels 1 March 2013 | Categories: newsJapanese electronics company Epson has launched its new range of projectors at a function held in Northriding, Johannesburg, showcasing its latest EB-1400Wi and EB-1410Wi projectors, as well as the new EB-G6800 and EB-G6900WU ranges.
Epson’s new EB-1410Wi and EB-1400Wi projectors are billed as complete digital solutions for business meetings, since they combine the benefits of projectors, interactive whiteboards and flipcharts within a single unit.
Besides being able to display your media on a screen like any normal projector, these units further allow users to make notes, highlight, annotate and draw on whatever media’s being displayed, using the interactive pens and provided software.
This functionality helps facilitates interactive class discussions as well as boardroom meetings, and once the meeting or session is done, users are able to print out meeting notes using a connected printer or via the network connected printer. Notes can also be saved to a USB drive, emailed to all the participants or shared over the office network via the interactive whiteboard software.
Severing the PC ties
The projectors function as standalone units and do not need to be connected to a PC to display media. Both units boasts DisplayPort and HDMI input for display high definition content onto a large projected image size of up to two and a half meters, and high lumens output of 3100 in the case of the EB-1410Wi and 2600 for the EB-1400Wi.
The EB-1410Wi and EB-1400Wi will be locally available as of March, with the recommended retail prices of these devices coming to R24 400 (excl. VAT) and R26 600 (excl. VAT) respectively. Both projectors come with a complete digital solution incorporating two digital pens, Epson’s built-in software, wall mount, external control pad, as well as a built-in 10W speaker.
Kevin Reynolds, general manager of Epson South Africa said: “These new devices are so much more than just interactive projectors, as they offer a complete digital solution that caters to a wide range of business needs. With one piece of equipment doing the job of the three or four that would have been required before, businesses are able to reduce investment costs on additional equipment and save valuable time in their meetings.”
EB-G6800 and EB-G6900 series of projectors
Epson’s EB-G6900WU and EB-G6800 series of projectors are targeted at rental and digital signage companies, with both sporting the ability to project into corners and onto curved surfaces. They are also able to automatically adjust settings in order to remove picture distortion.
Both model ranges further include HDBaseT, which is a state-of-the-art technology used for the transfer of five signals that includes uncompressed HD video, audio, power and control, at low costs over long distances (up to 100 m) using a standard cat5/6 cable.
“Epson is one of the first adopters of this technology in the projection market. By providing a dedicated connectivity interface including video, data and Power over Ethernet that uses standard network cabling, it is expected to reduce complexity, time and cost,” Reynolds asserted.
The Japanese company is offering its EB-G6650WU, EB-G6550WU, EB-G6-6450WU, EB-G66250W, EB-G6050W and EB-6350 to medium-to-large corporations as well as higher education institutions. These units have been designed for installation within auditoriums, lecture theatres and large meeting rooms. All of these models feature high brightness levels of between 4500 and 7000 lumens, which Epson says allows for clear and crisp projections, regardless of their operating environment.
The Epson G-series also available locally as of March with the recommended retail prices of the units starting at R25 490 (excl. VAT) and going up to R51 850 (excl. VAT).
In conclusion
“Our new range of business projectors offers bright, superior picture quality for truly remarkable projections. We’ve been the world’s number one projector manufacturer for over a decade, so businesses can be safe in the knowledge that their important presentations are showcased in the highest quality available,” Reynolds concluded.
