Epson has announced that it has reached a milestone market share of 22.71% in the global projection technology segment during the final quarter of the calendar year 2010, according to Futuresource Consulting Limited.

In addition to growing its overall market leading position, the Futuresource figures also show that Epson became the world leader for 4000 – 4999 lumen projectors with a market share of 15.40%, overtaking the previous forerunner, Sanyo.

Furthermore, the figures place Epson in the number one spot when it comes to ultra short throw projectors in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), with a regional market share of 67.12%.

Epson has been the world’s number one projector manufacturer since 2001 and its broad product range covering installation, portable, ultra-short-throw, interactive, business and home cinema products, makes it unique within the market.

Central to all the company’s projectors is its core 3LCD technology, which assist in making these some of the most colour-perfect projectors available.

“This new data from Futuresource is very exciting for us and we’re delighted to see that our projectors continue to gain recognition and sales share within the marke,” stated Kelvin Reynolds, general manager, Epson Southern Africa.

“By responding to market trends and continuously investing in the development of groundbreaking products and technologies, our aim is to continue strengthening our position as the market leader year on year,” Reynolds concluded.

Epson Southern Africa also recently announced that it has appointed Kolok, a member of the Bidvest Group, as an official distributor for consumer products into the retail channel.
