Update: It would appear that some kind of agreement has been reached between FNB and PayPal on bringing the full PayPal service to South Africa. A press conference has been called by FNB to discuss, “how they're [FNB and PayPal] working together to make global eCommerce faster and easier for the South African market.” Michael Jordaan, CEO of FNB, and senior executives from PayPal, will be speaking at the event, scheduled for 25 March 2010.

This follows on a statement released by FNB last month that they are in discussions with PayPal and the South African Reserve Bank. FNB released the statement after rumours appeared on Twitter that FNB will be giving South African users full access to PayPal come April.
