Google announced via their official blog that they are speeding up the rate at which new Google Chrome releases become available.

According to Anthony Laforge, a program manager for Google, they are looking to release new versions of the web browser once every six weeks, almost twice as often as the current rate.

“We have new features coming out all the time and do not want users to have to wait months before they can use them,” Laforge stated in the blog post.

He did emphasize that the company would not release features if they aren’t fully ready, saying they would stay committed to high quality releases.

The new system would also reduce pressure on software engineers, “when a feature is not complete, it will simply ride on the next releaser train when it’s ready,” said Laforge. Having a regular release schedule means less stress to get things finished for a ‘big’ release.

The latest version of Google’s web browser is version 6.0.472.0, released on the 21st of July 2010.
