The special edition PlayStation 3 Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Edition, announced by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) in September, went on sale today in Japan for 41 600 yen (about R3 400).

The special edition system, which comes packaged with the Final Fantasy XIII game, is finished in a stylish Ceramic White colour (as is the PS3 controller) with the game’s main character, Lightning, featured on its cover.

This Lightning Edition model comes with 250 GB of storage (the largest currently on offer) via its built-in hard drive, to save all your games, movies, photos, music and other downloadable content from the PlayStation Store.

The game’s release date for the rest of the world is 9 March 2010.
