Firefox developer Mozilla has announced that the beta version of the Firefox 4 browser is now available for download.

In addition to adding ten new languages to the suite, Mozilla has also included multi-touch support for Windows 7 and new JavaScript values, which should speed up graphical processing.

While Windows 7 users with touch-screen devices will be able to use Firefox 4 to browse the internet, developers will also be able to leverage these new capabilities to create touch based plugins for the platform.

According to Firefox’s official blog “changes to the C++ representation of JavaScript enable Firefox to execute heavy, numeric code more efficiently. This sort of code is used to produce smooth, streamlined graphics in modern Web applications”.

Firefox is the second largest internet browser platform behind Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Mozilla will undoubtedly be looking towards edging its global market share over the 20% mark with the release of Firefox 4.
