It would appear that Google’s Nexus S is about to have some Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) company if infamous phone blogger Eldar Murtazin is to be believed. The latest smartphone to be exposed and reviewed by Murtazin before it is even officially announced by the manufacturers is Sony Ericsson’s MT15i, which Murtazin refers to as the successor to Vivaz.

 

This Android 2.3 smartphone is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM7630 with the graphical oomph coming via an Adreno 205 GPU (reportedly the same GPU powering the much rumoured PlayStation Phone).

 

 

 

As is the case with the company recently unveiled Xperia Arc, SE has opted to employ a large display (480 x 854 pixel resolution) utilising its Mobile BRAVIA Engine to boost the multimedia viewing experience. It sports a paltry 300 MB of internal storage, as well as an 8 MP camera coupled with SE’s EXMOR sensor (just like the Arc) that is capable of capturing 720 p HD-Ready video.

 

TMurtazin dubs the device the Vivaz 2, and according to him it is due to hit the market around April 2011, meaning the official unveiling might be taking place during the 2011 Mobile World Congress next month in Barcelona.

 

In related news, SE has released its Q4 and full year 2010 results, wherein it has been revealed that the company managed to ship more than 9 million Android-based Xperia smartphones (such as the Xperia X10 and X10 Mini Pro) since launch.
