The wait is over, as Rockstar Games has finally announced that Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) is expected to launch globally during autumn 2013 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Pre-orders for the game kick-off next week (5 November 2012).
Developed by series creator Rockstar North, GTA V takes place within a re-imagined, present-day Southern California in the fictional city of Los Santos.
The developers are promising that there will be plenty to do, steal, hijack and shoot, as GTA V encompasses the largest and most thriving virtual game-world ever seen within the GTA franchise. More info is expected from Rockstar later this month.
‘Surprise’ marketing for Black Ops II
If you need any more evidence that gaming is a big business, how about this. The latest live-action trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops II has been released, directed by Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ Guy Ritchie. Cool enough, but it stars none other than star Robert ‘Iron Man’ Downey Jnr., plus Jack ‘Kung Fu Panda’ Black.
Do also keep your eyes peeled for bad-ass ‘Russian’ gunslinger FPSRussia’s bit part (check out his bullet-riddled YouTube channel here).
“This [the launch of Black Ops II] is more than a product launch, it’s become a cultural event,” said Tim Ellis, chief marketing officer at Activision Publishing. With Black Ops II setting pre-order records as it locks onto its 13 November release date, we’re quite sure Ellis is not far off the mark.
It’s D-day for a number of local gamers, seeing that WWE ’13 is tagging into stores today. The WWE gaming franchise is massively popular here in SA, so a number of coaches should be occupied this weekend.
Boasting not only largest roster in its history, ’13 also features the new Predator Technology 2.0 engine for smoother gameplay, and the ‘Attitude Era’ Mode, starring masters such as The Rock and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. It’s in store for R600 for a console copy and R400 for PC.

Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel coming March 2013
The third game within the Army of Two franchise, Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel, blasts its way onto the PS3 and Xbox 360 on 26 March 2013 Stateside and 29 March across Europe.
EA owned developer Visceral Games (developers of the Dead Space series) is using DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine (of Battlefield 3 fame) that allows for destructible environments. so expect to teach Mexican drug dealers that crime doesn’t pay by blowing up their compounds and blasting them into the next life.
Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel will boast intense co-operative gameplay where teamwork is the order of the day, in order to survive the assaults of a relentless Cartel drug lord. For a taste of the bullet filled action, check out the gameplay footage posted below.
