Google acquires BlindType
By Hanleigh Daniels 4 October 2010 | Categories: newsGoogle has acquired a company by the name of BlindType, with which the search giant is aiming to significantly enhance typing on Android smartphones.
BlindType allows users to match the letters that they press with the ones which they actually meant to type, by predicting what the user intended to write. According to the company, BlindType is a revolutionary system that will assist users to type easier and faster in any language, whilst eliminating touch-typing frustrations and errors.
It does this by allowing for super sloppy typing largely without looking at the screen, as the software constantly adjusts to the user’s ‘perceived’ keyboard and typing style. Users won’t have to learn anything new in order to use this new typing system and will just be able to type the way they are used to.
“We are excited to announce that BlindType has been acquired by Google!” BlindType announced on its blog on Friday. “We’re excited to join Google, and look forward to the great opportunities for mobile innovation that lie ahead.”
The financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
