Racing game fans awaiting the release of Gran Turismo 5 are going to have to wait a little longer to don their virtual helmets and gloves.

Sony has moved the goalpost for this PlayStation 3 racing title and pushed back the game’s 2nd of November US release date (and presumably the 3 November EU launch as well).

“We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season,” Taku Imasaki, a producer at Sony Computer Entertainment America wrote on a blog.

“We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.”

When it eventually becomes available just in time for Xmas, gamers will be able to race the 1 000 cars on upwards of 70 race tracks in glorious high-definition and even in 3D (if they own a 3DTV and 3D glasses) as well.
