Apparently not wasting any time in the new year, HP today announced several new products ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week.

These include the company’s first 27” all-in-one PC, along with a new Pavilion computer which HP has asserted is its most powerful Pavilion PC to date.

While detailed specifications are a little sparse at this point, the HP Omni27 PC will apparently boast multi-core processors, advanced high definition graphics and up to 2 TB of storage. Additionally, features such as Beats Audio, HDMI-in, and an optional blu-ray disc drive or TV tuner will be available on the computer, which appears to be strongly focused on multimedia enthusiasts.

Users will also be able to connect the optional HP Pulse subwoofer to complement the sound on offer by Beats Audio. Additionally, users will be able to tilt the all-in-one’s edge to edge display 25 degrees.

Phoenix comes to life

The second new offering announced by HP, the Pavilion HPE h9 Phoenix PC, will boast the speedy Intel Core i7-2600 processor, clocked at 3.4 GHz. Somewhat fittingly, an optional liquid cooling system will be available to draw heat away from the high-performance processors.

Additionally, the machine will include four dual in-line memory modules (DIMM) to accommodate up to 16 GB of DDR3 memory and three internal hard drive bays.

The computer will also house the AMD Radeon HD 6850 graphics card, with 1 GB of dedicated video RAM, which the company elaborated would “support multiple displays and deliver captivating video performance and picture quality.”

As we have come to expect at this level, Beats Audio will similarly be onboard, along with a ‘valet tray’ equipped with USB ports for charging one’s smartphone, digital cameras and MP3 player.

The Pavilion HPE h9 Phoenix PC certainly looks like a high performance PC.

Positive times ahead?

While the products are slated for launch this month stateside, no information about pricing or local availability has been released as yet. Even so, HP’s announcements are more than a little interesting, if only due to the fact that last year, the company’s dedication to its PC division came under a cloud.

This ultimately culminated in an announcement by the company’s new chief executive officer, Meg Whitman, that she would “get HP back on course” in 2012.

With these new offerings though, HP appears to not be wasting any time asserting that the PC is still relevant and desirable in a tablet and smartphone world.
