Earlier this year Christopher Nolan's hit dream thriller, Inception, delighted audiences worldwide, and now Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that a game adaptation for the movie is on the way.

In a recent interview with the magazine Nolan said, "I always imagined Inception to be a world where a lot of other stories could take place. At the moment, the only direction we're channeling that is by developing a video game set in the world."

The renowned director however said that the Inception game would be a "longer-term proposition", playing second fiddle to the third new Batman film, which the director is currently working on.

No studio or publishers were named, but since the film version was financed by Warner Bros, it is possible to see them taking over the job for the game as well. The company owns several internal game studios.

The Inception game isn't the first time Nolan's work will be heading to gaming controllers, in 2005 EA and Warner Bros co-published a game by Eurcom studios around his first Batman film, Batman Begins. A game tie-in based on his second movie, The Dark Knight, was rumoured to be in the works, but this was cancelled in 2009.

Obviously no release date or platform specific information is available as of yet, but we’re definitely hoping to see a movie-based game deliver something good for once.
