Kingston launches next-gen secure USB flash drives
By Staff Writer 12 July 2012 | Categories: newsLosing a USB flash drive with sensitive data stored onboard can cause serious headaches. Luckily, memory product company Kingston Technology is paying attention to this problem with the release of its second-generation DataTraveler Locker+ secure USB flash drive for consumers.
Using hardware-based encryption, users simply need to setup a password for access the first time they use the product, and the drive is as simple as plug and play with no extra software or partitions needed.
The DataTraveler Locker+ G2 also features a password manager, which allows users to store names and passwords for up to 20 accounts. The metal casing further offers a key loop for easy attachment to a backpack or notebook bag, and when we had the product in hand it felt very durable.
As with most storage products, price per GB drops as time goes along, so the DataTraveler Locker+ G2 is lower-priced than before, and works interchangeably between Mac OS X and Windows systems.
"Data security for consumers is simple and affordable with the new DataTraveler Locker+ G2. The data encryption makes this the perfect USB drive to keep your information safe and out of strangers’ hands in case it ever gets lost," says Grant Rau, business development manager, Kingston South Africa."
The DataTraveler Locker+ G2 is available in 4 GB (R108), 8 GB (R125), 16 GB (R222) and 32 GB (R500) capacities. It is backed by a five-year warranty and free technical support. For more information visit www.kingston.com/europe.
