LG has unveiled two new premium IPS (inter plane switching) monitors at the IFA trade show currently underway in Berlin, the EA93 and EA83.

While the former is aimed at addressing a variety of entertainment needs, the latter is specifically aimed at dealing with graphics-intensive applications.

As befitting its entertainment focus, the company explained that the standout feature of the EA93 is its cinematic screen and 21:9 display, which it added is the same ratio as that used in movie theatres.

The 29” display boasts a 2560 x 1080 resolution, and 300 nit brightness level. According to LG though, it isn’t only the size of the screen that makes the monitor so adept with multimedia, as the EA93 accurately captures 100% of the defined sRGB colour space.

The company elaborated that the extra-wide screen is also useful in work situations, as the EA93 offers a four-screen split feature, which can divide the display into four segments. The additional Dual Link-up function allows two devices to connect to the monitor simultaneously, which will enable users to  share files from two devices, such as a PC and a smartphone, simultaneously.

The EA83 is particularly aimed at graphics professionals.

Graphics Powerhouse

LG explained that the 27” EA83 meanwhile, was designed to be a comprehensive monitor solution for filmmakers, photographers, designers, and other graphics experts by providing “a combination of superior resolution and lifelike colours.” To this end, it asserted that the WQHD (2560x1440 pixel) high resolution IPS monitor boasts one of the widest colour spaces in its category.

It added that the EA83 is able to display 99% of the Adobe RGB colour space and provide graphics professionals the exact colours they’re looking for, while offering a brightness of 350 nits. The EA83 further ships with software and hardware colour calibrators, enabling graphics professionals to ensure that the screen always displays the most accurate and natural colours.

To the point

While prices and availability have not yet been announced as yet, as with many of the announcements coming out of IFA, we hope that LG launches their two displays with competitive pricing.

In recent news, LG announced its new Optimus L9 smartphone, which boasts a 4.7” IPS display and the company’s L shaped design.
