Social networking portal Facebook officially confirmed this weekend that pop star Lady Gaga is now the first living person to have more than 10 million fans on the website.

According to Us Magazine, the starlet was in a head to head race with US President Barack Obama, who currently has 9.54 million fans on Facebook.

The most popular person currently on Facebook is the late Michael Jackson, who skyrocketed to 14 million fans since his untimely death in 2009.

At present Facebook is the largest social networking website on the planet. It currently has over 400 million active users who spend a staggering collective total of 500 billion minutes on the website each month.

The portal’s twenty four year old founder Mark Zuckerberg is now worth an estimated $4 billion (R30 billion).
