MTN extends 2 GB internet bundle deal by three months
By Hanleigh Daniels 10 May 2012 | Categories: newsMTN is looking to kick off another round in the mobile data price war, announcing an extension of its 2 GB internet bundle price slash promotion.
Between 1 May 2012 and 31 July 2012, all MTN customers will have high-speed internet connectivity on their smartphones, tablets or USB modem, at over half the normal monthly cost. The company’s 2 GB internet bundle offer is available to PayAsYouGo, TopUp and contract customers for R189.
This bundle can be purchased as a once off or on a recurring monthly basis and comes with a 60 day carry-over period, meaning customers will have up to two months to make use of the bundle from the date of purchase. MTN stated that existing 2 GB bundle users who already have an add-on recurring 2 GB bundle, will also benefit from this promotion.
“Once a customer reaches the 2 GB cap, they will be informed accordingly via an SMS notification and their further usage will be charged at an out of bundle rate of only 19c, which is also competitive in the market,” explained Mapula Bodibe, MTN South Africa general manager, Consumer Segments.
MTN customers can purchase the 2 GB bundle as an add-on bundle via their smartphone or any other internet-enabled device by dialling *141*6# or by going to www.mtn.co.za/selfservice.
In related news, Nashua Mobile recently introduced its Xtreme Data offering to the local market, bringing together internet browsing, social media, email and instant messaging, all for a flat-rate of R59 per month.
