By Tom Manners 11 October 2010 | Categories: newsTopTV has successfully negotiated a football team channel with one of the best teams in the Barclays English Premiership League. Manchester United TV will start airing on November 1 on TopTV on Channel 205.
MUTV is a 24-hour linear channel that offers a wide range of football and club-related programs and matches. The channel will be airing recorded, full coverage of Manchester United matches in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League plus live coverage of Manchester United pre-season friendly matches. The channel will also show match highlights, match day build-up, exclusive interviews, club news, player access, classic matches and numerous magazine and documentaries programs.
Richard Arnold, commercial eirector of Manchester United said, “This is an excellent service for Man Utd fans. Supporters can keep up to speed with our latest news with exclusive interviews and programs about Manchester United – all by tuning to TopTV.”
Manchester United is based at Old Trafford stadium in the Greater Manchester region in England. The club is arguably the most popular football club in the world with an estimated 5% (330 million people) of the world’s population supporting it.
Manchester United was the founding member of the Premier League in 1992 and has been playing in the top division of English football since 1938. Lovingly referred to as ‘The Red Devils’, Manchester United is the second most successful club in the history of English football and is by far the most triumphant in recent times, having won 20 major honours since Sir Alex Ferguson started as manager in November 1986. The team has won England’s top division 17 times, one short of Liverpool’s 18 league titles.
In 1968 Manchester United became the first English club to win the UEFA Champions League title when they beat S.L Benfica 4-1. They won a second UEFA Champions League title as part of their unprecedented treble in 1999 (also winning the F.A Cup and English Premiership).
Manchester United were sitting in position three after seven games in the current season of the Barclays English Premiership League and TopTV subscribers are invited to catch Manchester United TV on TopTV as Sir Alex Ferguson’s men aim for glory in both the UEFA Champions League as well as the Barclays English Premiership League.
