Microsoft surpasses download milestone for IE9
By Hanleigh Daniels 17 March 2011 | Categories: newsMicrosoft launched the latest version of Internet Explorer (IE) web browser this week and as to be expected, this final version of Internet Explorer 9 has greatly eclipsed the first-day download figures of both the beta and release candidate versions.
The company has announced that IE9 has been downloaded over 2.35 million times in the first 24 hours following its release on Monday. According to the Redmond-based company that equates to more than 27 downloads every second or north of 240 downloads every 9 seconds.
“We want to thank everyone around the world for downloading IE9 and the enthusiastic reception,” stated Ryan Gavin, senior director, Internet Explorer Business and Marketing in a blogpost. “2.3 million downloads in 24 hours is over double the 1 million downloads we saw of the IE9 Beta and four times that of the IE9 RC over the same time period.”
Those who prefer Microsoft’s browser to that of Google’s Chrome, Mozilla’s Firefox, Apple’s Safari and Opera Software’s Opera browser, can download it from the company’s website.
