Nashua Mobile today launched its new VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service named EasiVoice. The offering is aimed at reducing companies telecommunications costs, saving them money on local, international and cellular calls.

Problems that have traditionally kept VoIP solutions from fully taking advantage of the South African market includes the high cost of bandwidth as well as the quality of the lines. However Nashua believes that the time is now ripe for such solutions to be implemented, as bandwidth costs have decreased and most importantly, line quality has improved.

The EasiVoice offering also does justice to its name, bearing the motto, “Get smart, keep it simple.” This, we were told, means that EasiVoice is one of the simplest solutions to use and set up, boasting plug-and-play technology, meaning you can simply plug it in and start chatting.

Monthly subscription

Based on a client's requirements, monthly subscriptions can range from R440 to R3300 per month, with the subscriptions including all equipment, installations, monitoring and maintenance, and for ADSL customers, the cost of the data used in making calls.

The subscriptions are also highly flexible, allowing clients to change their tariff plans as their needs change, no fine print present. Connectivity is delivered through either ADSL, Diginet or even Primary Rate Links, with wireless options on the way.

Call rates to local Telkom numbers is charged as low as R0.28 per minute, with national calls going for R0.38 a minute and cellular calls for R0.95. On-net (Nashua VoIP to Nashua VoIP) calls are billed at only R0.11 per minute.

Andy Baker, Nashua Mobile CEO said, “With the uncertainty surrounding the regulation of mobile termination rates in South Africa, the time is ripe for businesses of all sizes to migrate onto VoIP solutions to achieve cost-savings in their telecommunications environments.”

“With VoIP solutions in place, companies will be able to save money on cellular calls, as they did with least-cost routing solutions in the past, as well as achieve significant cost-savings on calls to local and International fixed-line numbers," said Baker.

Also simpler

In addition to VoIP technology's great cost saving potential, the technology also makes it simpler for businesses to manage their telecommunications, as voice and data services now take place on a converged network. This also allows for more cost effective network maintenance and makes the provision of extension numbers much simpler.

“We make it easy for companies to procure both mobile and fixed voice as well as data solutions from one company that can present them with a single bill for all these services each month,” said Baker.

With its converged services, no nonsense billing, continuous monitoring and easy setup, Nashua Mobile seems to have a mighty strong VoIP offering on its hands. The company also announced a consumer offering which will be launched within the nest two months, on which we'll keep you posted.
