HP today introduced its first multi-touch-enabled tablets for business users, plus notebook PCs, tailored for both enterprise users and SMBs.

The new devices include the EliteBook 2740p, an ultra-thin, light (starts at 1.72 kg), multi-touch-enabled convertible tablet sporting a 12.1" diagonal WXGA LED display, with or without multi-touch. With multi-touch you’ll be able to use the pen or your fingers (with multi-touch gesture support) to navigate applications, turn pages and complete tasks. It also offers the option for an outdoor-view display with less reflection and a higher contrast ratio, for easier viewing in natural light. The 2740p comes with a myriad of battery options, including a three-cell battery that provides up to four hours of use, a six-cell battery for up to eight hours of use, and a nine-cell battery for those long days out of office, with 10.5 hours of battery life.

HP’s EliteBook 2540p is the company’s lightest EliteBook notebook PC, weighing 1.53 kg, with the same LED display as the 2740p. You can choose from a range of Intel Core processors and although it uses a six-cell li-ion prismatic battery, which provides up to five hours of use for the notebook, you have the option of adding the HP 2700 Ultra-Slim Battery, which provides you with up to 11 hours of use in combination with the standard battery. Users will also get a choice between standard voltage for maximum performance (a first for HP ultra-portable notebooks) and low voltage for increased flexibility for the Intel processors. Both the 2740p and 2540p are engineerd according to MIL-STD 810G military-standard tests for vibration, dust, humidity, altitude, and high and low temperatures.

Four new models join the ProBook standard series (s-series) of notebook PCs, with these being the HP ProBook 4320s (13.3"), HP ProBook 4420s (14"), HP ProBook 4520s (15.6") and the HP ProBook 4720s (17.3"). These new notebooks are powered by Intel’s new Core i3, i5 and i7 processors and provide you with a choice between Intel HD Graphics and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4350.

“The HP business touch tablet is the latest addition to the broad mix of choices that HP offers business customers to best improve manageability, productivity and mobility,” said Nitesh Doolabh, category manager for the personal systems group of HP. “HP continues to implement the latest innovations to help large companies and SMBs exceed productivity expectations,” he continues.
