Microsoft latest version of its Office productivity suite, Office 2010, finally hits local shelves today after it's launch in way back in April. Office 2010 includes the latest versions of old favourites such as Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

A big focus of the latest suite is better online collaboration, with Office 2010’s Web Apps an example of this. Web Apps include browser based versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote, which makes it easier for a group of people to collaborate on one document.

The suite makes it simpler for users to recover documents that were closed without being saved and adds basic photo-editing functionality to all of its application programs. Video clips can now also be edited within PowerPoint and PowerPoint presentations can be broadcast live over the web.

“Add in Windows Phone 7 series which will launch towards the end of this year, and people now have more power in their PC, Web and phone than ever before,” said Microsoft SA’s Information Worker Business head Albie Bester.
