TomTom celebrated their first year in South Africa by announcing three new GPSs at an event held last night in Newtown, Johannesburg. The three personal navigation devices include the Start, XXL and the GO 750.

Start
The TomTom Start seems like a solid entry-level device. With a 3.5" touch-screen, it’s small and lightweight with integrated mounting, much like their White Pearl GPS. It comes in four colour schemes, with interchangeable cover skins which are available at Makro and Game. It retails with a map of South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland at a recommended R1399.

XXL
The XXL’s name is a reference to its screen size, with a massive 5" touch-screen enough to compensate for any insecurities. Those touring Southern Africa will find the included maps for Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, and Zambia extremely handy. Its RRP is R2499.

GO 750
The GO 750 is TomTom’s current flagship device and includes an enhanced speaker for clearer voice instructions and calling via hands-free Bluetooth. They have also enhanced the graphics on the device. The GO 750 is one of the few GPSs that include maps for Europe as well, with 45 countries from both East- and Western Europe included. The device retails for a recommended R2999.
