News: New Toshiba notebooks for SA

Toshiba recently unveiled its new Satellite C660 and Satellite Pro C660 for the South African market. These devices are aimed at entry level users who require a notebook for their everyday computing needs at a very affordable price.

The 15.6” Satellite C660 features a fingerprint resistive black finish to keep the device clean and looking good. It's powered by an Intel or AMD processor, users can choose, and the device can take up to 8 GB of RAM.

There is no shortage of data space thanks to a 320 GB hard drive and the C660 is easy to use thanks to an integrated 10-digit numeric keypad and a touch pad with multi-touch control enabled.

The device is also flexible thanks to two USB 2.0 ports, Wireless LAN, optional Bluetooth, fast Ethernet LAN and a Multi-Card Reader. An integrated web camera and microphone allows for quick and easy video chatting as well.

The Satellite C660 comes ready to use right out of the box thanks to the inclusion of Microsoft Office Starter 2010, which offers basic office functionality as well as Nero 9 Essentials which can rip, burn and copy any files you'd like.

The Satellite Pro C660 is almost identical to the C660 except for the fact that it's targeted more at professional users, and for that reason ships with a copy of Windows 7 Professional edition.

The Toshiba Satellite C660 and Satellite Pro C660 will be available in South African early in the fourth quarter of 2010. They are available from Mustek and sells for a recommended R4 999.
