Twitter has launched a new redesign of its popular micro-blogging website at the company’s headquarters in San Francisco, which adds a range of new features to the social networking service.

According to the BBC, Twitter’s new homepage will make it easier for users to share photos and videos via the site. The new design will feature two panes, one will be the traditional tweet displaying window that Twitter users are used to, with the other pane right next to it sporting pictures as well as videos.

This means that instead of leaving the site in order to view a YouTube video or live videostream, users are now able to stay on Twitter.com. The new look which Mashable says makes Twitter feel a bit more like Facebook, will be rolled out and available to users within the next couple of weeks.

Twitter has signed deals with 16 photo and video sites, the likes of YouTube and Flickr, to allow for the embedding of their visual content onto the site.

This latest unveiling follows in the wake of other Twitter announcements such as the ‘Suggestions for You’ feature, which suggests people to users that they aren’t currently following and whom they might find interesting as well as the tweet button.
