Nintendo 3DS announcement
By Hanleigh Daniels 23 March 2010 | Categories: newsNintendo are planning to showcase the successor to its popular DS portable console at the E3 technology expo, taking place later in the year in Las Vegas.
According to Engadget the 3DS will be 3D capable, minus the irritating 3D eyewear, and will be a replacement to both the aging DS and the DSi. The 3DS will apparently make use of a “compatible cart”, which means that it will likely be backward compatible with DS game cartridges. The E3 expo will take place between 15 and 17 June.
On a related note, Nintendo will also be launching the DSi XL here in South Africa on Friday. The DSi XL boasts larger screens that measure 4.2" across (the DS' displays are 3.25"- and the DS Lite's displays are 3" across), as well as a camera and a larger stylus that is almost 4 cm longer than the one provided with the DS. It will be available for purchase in stores as of April. We are still waiting to hear what kind of price tag you can expect to see on the device.
