Nokia N8 delayed
By Tom Manners 21 September 2010 | Categories: newsNokia fans who have been eagerly awaiting the release of its revolutionised N8, which is the first handset to feature the company’s revamped Symbian S^3 mobile operating system, should be somewhat disappointed to hear that they may have to wait a little longer than expected.
Rumours behind an N8 delay have finally proven true. Nokia yesterday released a statement announcing that the handset’s release would be delayed by a month from September to October in order “to do some final amends”.
In addition to this, strong response to the N8 has resulted in a flood of preorders for the device. Nokia may not have been expecting this, which could have contributed to the delay.
"The amount of preorders has exceeded our expectations and we are working hard to deliver the Nokia N8 to the market. In some markets, we had planned to start delivering the Nokia N8s to our pre-order customers by the end of September.”
“To ensure a great user experience, we have decided to hold the shipments for a few weeks to do some final amends. We're thrilled with the response that we've had to the Nokia N8 and assure everyone who've pre-ordered it already that it'll be worth the wait! We expect consumers to get their Nokia N8s during October."
No announcement regarding local release dates has yet been made.
