Recently Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin leaked pics of the unannounced Nokia X7, which looks to be running on Symbian^3 (like the E7, N8 and C7).

This week it was UK mobile network Three’s turn to prematurely reveal some info on the device. According to My Nokia Blog, an employee from Three UK uploaded a video promo of the Nokia X7 on YouTube, which has consequently been made private. Luckily Engadget has managed to save a copy of the promotional video (posted below).

This smartphone boasts the same 4" ClearBlack AMOLED display that is employed by the Nokia E7, enabling really good visibility even in direct sunlight. It also features an updated Symbian user interface (UI) which according to “Brandon” from Three is “all about speed”. The latter allows for, amongst others, a new Symbian browser that is “three times faster than the old Symbian browser”.

In related news, news broke last week of a forthcoming Nokia event to be held tomorrow, surrounding developments concerning the Symbian mobile operating system (OS).

Moconews has now revealed that, rather then an event taking place, this will just be announcements regarding new Symbian developments.

“The announcements next week [tomorrow] are all online activities,” a Nokia spokesperson told Moconews last week. “The interest has been generated by a teaser campaign and the fact that here in the UK we have arranged to meet a few of our analysts on Tuesday. The wider media have combined these items to ‘create’ a nonexistent London Launch.”

Engadget has also downgraded the media “event” to a “media briefing” and Laurie Armstrong, who is also a Nokia spokesperson, posted a comment on their article. “For clarification, on April 12th, Nokia will share some updates and news regarding the latest developments in our Symbian smartphones. There is no physical event, but please visit nokia.com/press at 10:00 CET for all the news.”
