Nokia has unveiled a trio of new smartphones operating on its newly announced Symbian Belle mobile operating system (OS). Each of these new mobile devices, the Nokia 700, 701 and 600, also brings something new to the company's smartphone range.

Nokia 700

Espoo calls its Nokia 700 (video posted below), “the smallest smartphone in the world”, as it measures just 110 x 50.7 x 9.7 mm and weighs a merer 96 g. Besides operating on Symbian Belle, the Nokia 700 also features a 3.2" (360 x 640 pixels) ClearBlack AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass on top, Wi-Fi connectivity, 2 GB internal storage that is expandable via the MicroSD card slot supporting cards up to 32 GB in size, a 5 MP full-focus camera with LED flash, GPS and a compass. Also onboard is  Bluetooth 3.0, NFC, up to HSUPA 3G data transfer speeds and the device is powered by a 1 GHz processor (make not specified), with the battery life being rated by Nokia, at up to 7.3 hours talk-time or up to 465 hours on standby. It is expected to become available during Q3 of 2011, but no local release info is available yet.


 Nokia 701

According to Nokia its new Nokia 701 smartphone possesses “the brightest screen in the world”  (in terms of NITs). The N8 and E7 maker says that its 3.5" (360 x 640 pixels) IPS LCD display with ClearBlack technology, allows for a combination of incredible brightness and contrast. This display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, like that of the Nokia 700.

Powering the graphics that will be displayed on this exceptionally bright screen is a brand new graphics co-processor, boasting a faster clock and four times the graphics memory of previous Symbian smartphones.

The Nokia 701 operated on Symbian Belle and is powered by a 1 GHz processor. It also sports HSUPA 3G, Wi-Fi connectivity, NFC, 8 GB internal storage expandable via MicroSD card slot, an 8 MP full-focus snapper with dual-LED flash, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS and FM radio. It is expected to become available during Q3 of 2011, but no local release info is available yet.


 Nokia 600

Completing the Finnish company’s Symbian Belle operating trio, is the new Nokia 600, which is the “the loudest smartphone” Nokia has ever produced. The Nokia 600 boasts a super loud speaker inside, rated at a window-rattling 106 phon.

It too is powered by a 1 GHz processor and sports a 3.2" (360 x 640 pixels) capacitive TFT touch screen. The Nokia 600 measures 111 x 53 x 13 mm and weighs 100 g. Also onboard feature wise is support for 3G data rates up to HSUPA standards, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, A-GPS and an accelerometer and magnetometer. There’s 2 GB of internal memory for storage, with support for up to another 32 GB of storage via a MicroSD card and a 5 MP full-focus camera on the back, with an LED flash, which can record HD-Ready (720p) video. It is expected to become available during Q3 of 2011, but no local release info is available yet.


In related news Nokia also recently unveiled the Nokia 500 and Nokia SA revealed that the MeeGo-operating N9 will be getting its passport stamped in South Africa.
