Joining its successful Nvidia 3D Vision product range, the new wired glasses will offer the same 3D quality and features of Nvidia's 3D Vision wireless glasses, but at a pricetag of only $99 (around R680).

Unfortunately, the price cut means you'll have to wave goodbye to wireless comfort, with a 10 foot (3 metre) USB 2.0 cable instead serving to link your glasses with your PC or notebook. There's an upside though, and one which is especially important for gamers, namely that these glasses don't require batteries or the incessant removal of rechargables.

The glasses features Nvidia's active-shutter technology, allowing gamers vivid 3D content and a wide viewing angle. The glasses enables gamers access to the broadest selection of 3D content available today, including 525 full HD 3D games, Blu-ray 3D movies as well as streaming 3D videos from YouTube and other services.

The 3D vision wired glasses is also compatible with more than 65 different 3D Vision monitors, notebooks and projectors.

“3D Vision provides gamers and enthusiasts with the world's largest ecosystem of 3D products and features,” said Phil Eisler, general manger of 3D Vision at Nvidia. “3D fans have been waiting for more affordable glasses, and we're expecting our new 3D Vision wired glasses to hit the sweet spot for them.”

The new Nvidia 3D Vision wired glasses will be available from late June 2011 from the Nvidia store and leading retailers. No local pricing is available at this stage.
