Oddworld series set to return
By Hanleigh Daniels 6 September 2010 | Categories: newsUK-based game developer Just Add Water (JAW) has announced the first title to be produced from its partnership with Oddworld Inhabitants.
Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath isn’t a new title though, but a rehash of the original game that was released in 2005 on the Xbox (the pre-360 model). This modern remake of the game will not only mark the return of the Oddworld series, but also the return of the franchise to the PlayStation since 1998.
Although it will for the most part stay true to the original, the game will also feature a number of enhancements such as a 720p HD ready graphics boost allowing for a much greater level of character and world detail, normal mapping and self-shadowing, re-mastered dialogue, as well as support for Sony’s motion-based PlayStation Move peripheral.
“Since word got out that we’ve been working with Oddworld Inhabitants there have been many rumours circulating about what we’re working on,” stated Stewart Gilray, managing director of JAW.
“Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is the first project in what we believe will be a long and fruitful relationship. Having the chance to update this great title and release it on PS3 is just a brilliant opportunity, not least for us, but for the fans too.”
Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath will become available as a digital download for the PlayStation 3 from the PlayStation Network (PSN) next Easter.
