Opera announced yesterday that they will be previewing a version of their popular mobile browser, Opera Mini, for the iPhone at the World Mobile Congress (MWC) which kicks off next week in Barcelona, Spain.

“This is a unique opportunity to introduce the fast, feature-rich Opera Mini experience for the iPhone, and to showcase our latest beta releases of Opera Mobile and Opera Mini on other platforms and devices. Opera’s mission is to bring the Web to the world, and by making Opera Mini available on yet another platform, we are one step closer,” said Jon von Tetzchner, Co-founder, Opera Software.

The Norwegian company’s mobile browsers are renowned for their compression of regular websites for mobile use, making sites quicker to browse and less bandwidth hungry. Despite the announcement, Opera have not yet submitted the browser to Apple for distribution approval on the Apple App Store.

The company hasn’t revealed too many clues as to what we can expect from the browser, other than the fact that it will be fast, easy to use, features tab browsing and a handy password manager.

Only registered press will be allowed to preview the browser at the event however, and no launch date for the browser has been revealed.
