Opera Software has announced that its browser has been chosen to come preinstalled on Toshiba’s Android-based tablet PC dubbed the Folio 100. Users will have the option to use either Opera Mobile or Android’s default browser.

 

This compact (281 x 181 x 14 mm) Android 2.2 device weighs only 760 g and boasts a 10.1" capacitive multi-touch display (1024 x 600 resolution), Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU, HDMI connector and 16 GB of storage space. It also sports an SD/MMC card reader, 3G, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, Adobe Flash 10.1, a 1.3 megapixel webcam and battery life of up to seven hours.

Toshiba and Opera Software worked together to optimise the browser’s user interface (UI) for the new tablet format and have made changes to amongst others the layout, touch support as well as the screen rotation.

This tablet will be available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa during Q4 of 2010. According to MyBroadband the Folio 100 will be locally available as of November for a recommended retail price starting from R4 999 (non-3G model).
