PC Medic - November 2011
By Staff Writer 1 November 2011 | Categories: newsSome say Bill Gates is his personal butler, while others believe that RIM kept so quiet after the BlackBerry service outage because he told them to. We call him the PC Medic and he’s here to answer your PC related queries.
Q: Hi PC Medic. I need a program that helps you change wma and flac audio files to mp3. Please help. M. Zafar.
A: Hi M. You can download the easy-to-use free version of Switch sound file converter from http://cnet.co/getSwitch (½ MB, skip the added extras). Using this you can drag and drop the files you want converted, choose the file type you want converted to, and watch this program quickly do its business.
Q: Hi there PC Medic. Do you perhaps know of an easy to use conversion program that will help me to convert the movies and series I have on my PC into a format that will play on my iPhone and iPad? Thanks, Angelo.
A: Ola Angelo. Download the YouTube Downloader (around 5 MB) at cnet.co/YTD2go, which enables you to easily convert your videos into high quality output formats for various mobile devices, including Apple’s iOS-running devices and Sony’s PS3 and PSP. Be careful to check what options are selected before downloading.
Tips for Windows 7: Adding “copy to” and “move to” to right-click menu
If, like us, you frequently copy and paste (or cut and paste) files in Windows 7 in order to move and organise your data, then you’ll find that adding the “copy to” and “move to” functionality to your right-click mouse menu, cuts down on the amount of clicks and time you spend doing this. First, download the registry tweak zip folder from bit.ly/pastecopy. Then install both of the registry files housed within the folder, by simply double-clicking on them. Now you’ll be able to cut and paste or copy and paste info to a folder with a singular right-click of your mouse.
