With a digital comic book service already available on Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP), an anime distribution service is coming to the PlayStation Network (PSN) in Japan thanks to Konami.

According to Siliconera, Konami is starting this service using its core anime franchises in Japan and the first series to be made available will be Tokimeki Memorial OnlyLove. Each episode will be available for ¥250 (about R21).

Some of the other series that will be offered include Quiz Magic Academy -Original Animation-, Skygirls, Saint October, Fairy Musketeers and Best Student Council. These will cost between 200–300 yen (approx. R17-R26) per episode.

This will be a rental service and the content can be viewed for a limited time by rental method from the PlayStation Store. Anime episodes can be viewed any time within 30 days from purchase and up to 72 hours from the first time that they are played. These episodes can be downloaded via PS3 and can also be played on PSP which has been authenticated with the same PSN account.

No word yet on whether this service will be available outside of Japan.
