While there are numerous very good news reader apps available for Android and iOS alike, one of them, and a personal favourite of ours, Pulse, has received yet another update.

 

This time though, it adds catering to social media sites to its feature set.

 

With its new update, users can now select from amongst a new category, aptly named social, and from here, select from amongst and add their Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo and Reddit feeds. Other social media sources that can be added include Readability, Quora, Storylane, Google Reader and The Fancy.

 

While the sources are added much like any other content within Pulse (by clicking on the blue Add Content button and selecting the desired sources from a list) photo and video viewing has also received a bit of an enhancement as well. The news reader now enables users to view photos and video “without any clutter” within the reading view, which we found to be a welcome improvement.

 

The company explained that the new update was motivated by the fact that it noticed many people switching between social networks to get their favourite content. The new update is available for both iOS and Android versions of the app.

 

It can be downloaded from the Apple app store and Google Play Store, or alternatively by simply updating the app on one’s iOS or Android device respectively.
