Radiant launches electricity usage monitor
By Mike Joubert 27 August 2009 | Categories: newsTreehuggers take note because you'll love this. The Radiant Group has introduced a wireless household electricity monitor dubbed the Owl. With the Owl you're able to monitor your home's electricity usage on the spot and keep record of how much electricity you've consumed per month.
According to Graham Chick, Radiant\'s executive director for electrical product development, the Owl consists of two components: a transmitter unit and a receiver with LCD monitor. The transmitter unit needs to be installed into your electricity distribution board by a qualified electrician. Once that\'s done the receiver unit will display real-time electricity usage, and, by applying your own municipal electricity tariffs, also the Rand value thereof.
\"The Owl is an environmentally conscious product,\" continues Chick. \"South Africa\'s electricity is predominantly derived from coal-fired sources, which are directly linked to greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing electricity consumption reduces your carbon footprint and helps in the fight against the negative impacts of climate change.\"
The Owl is available from Radiant distributors. Contact Radiant for more information on 011-386-0000.
