Samsung Electronics South Africa has announced the local availability of its Wireless Audio with Dock (WAD) system, which is the world’s first dual-docking system according to the Korean company.

Unlike other docking stations which only features an iPhone dock connector, enabling users to slot their iPhone or iPod into the device, the Korean tech giant’s new line of wireless audio docking systems allow smartphone users to dock both Samsung Galaxy smartphones and Apple’s iOS devices.

The Samsung DA-E750 Wireless Audio with Dock

Samsung’s DA-E750 WAD is the company’s first speaker dock to supports its own Galaxy SII, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note smartphones, as well as Apple’s iOS-powered mobile devices such as the iPad via its dual docking structure.

The unit features Vacuum Tube Amp technology to boost the music listening experience through the combination of the digital amplifier’s sharp clarity and the rich sound performance made possible via vacuum tubes.

This system boasts a 2.1-channel speaker as well as a 100 watt subwoofer, while offering analogue (composite) input and a USB port to play audio files directly from a flash drive, portable music player or portable hard-drive with built-in support for MP3, WMA and WAV file formats.

In addition, the DA-E750 supports wireless audio file playback through AllShare for Samsung Galaxy smartphones, and Soundshare functionality enabling consumers to stream audio from certain Samsung HDTVs (Samsung E6200 LED and above or E550 plasma and higher) to the WAD system.

Apple users will also be able to stream their music to the system by using the Cupertino-based firm’s Airplay functionality, whilst owners of Bluetooth A2DP (advanced audio distribution profile) enabled music players will be able to send their playlist to the WAD via Bluetooth.  

The elegant DA-E750 system is locally available for a recommended retail price of R7 000.

The Samsung DA-E670 Wireless Audio with Dock:

The DA-E670 sports built-in glass fibre speakers that collectively outputs 40 watts of sound power, as well as an integrated subwoofer enabling an enhanced bass oomph.

As with the DA-E750, this device includes USB Direct Play, supports wireless audio file playback through AllShare (DLNA) for Samsung Galaxy devices and Airplay for iOS-operating devices or A2DP for Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices. It goes for an RRP of R5 000.

The Samsung DA-E650 Wireless Audio with Dock:

Samsung’s DA-E650 features a stylish, curved aesthetics that was inspired by a horn. This unit features USB Direct Play and glass fibre speakers. Like the other models in this speaker system range, the DA-E650 also offers wireless playback for Bluetooth compatible mobile devices. Available locally at a RRP of R4 000.

The entry-level Samsung DA -E550 and the DA-570 Wireless Audio with Dock:

Like Samsung’s range topping DA-E750 WAD, the DA-E550 features dual docking capabilities for Galaxy devices and Apple products. Also onboard is Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity for wireless audio streaming as well as an auxiliary input connection and USB slot for wired audio play.

Samsung’s DA-E570, boasts a box design as opposed to the DA-E550’s curved look and boasts  a two-channel system with a dual docking station, Bluetooth 3.0 as well as a total sound power output amounting to 10 watts. In addition, users will also find the power bass function handy for adding some bass response to their audio sessions and an aux input for MP3 players and mobile phones.

Both the Samsung DA- E550 and DA-E570 are available locally at an RRP of R2 500.

In related news, Samsung also recently revealed the specifications behind its latest mobile processor - the Exynos 5 Dual, which has been specifically designed to power high-end tablets and is the world’s first low-power dual-core Cortex-A15 based AP.
