Samsung has officially announced a new addition to its smartphone range, the Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000.

The Android 2.1 powered Galaxy S features a 4” WVGA AMOLED display with a resolution of 800x480 with support for HD viewing at 720p. In terms of connectivity it supports 7.2 Mbps HSDPA, boasts Bluetooth 3.0 support and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n.

With regards to features it includes up to 16 GB of onboard memory with MicroSD support for up to 32 GB, a 5 Megapixel camera with Autofocus, a 1 GHz application processor and an accelerometer.

The Galaxy S will also feature Samsung’s updated TouchWiz 3.0 UI (user interface).

In addition to this users will also have access to over 50 000 applications through the Android Open Market and Samsung Apps.

We’re extremely confident that this device is going to be very successful in every market.”

No local release or pricing details are yet available at present.
