Samsung to assemble monitors locally
By Staff Writer 27 June 2012 | Categories: newsSamsung Electronics South Africa has started assembling all computer monitors above 21” destined for the SA market locally. According to the company this will result in more cost effective solutions for consumers.
The process is being undertaken through Anyview Technology, one of the plants responsible for the local assembly of Samsung’s TV technologies. Samsung states that this move will ensure that the latest range of computer monitors remain competitively priced, while still giving consumers the high quality assurance associated with the brand.
“Samsung is committed to delivering innovative, smart products to our customer base, and certainly we understand that cost is a consideration, especially when examining the latest range of monitors. However, through this move, we can now take ownership of this process locally and deliver more cost effective monitors into the market, while not compromising on technology innovation and quality,” says Thierry Boulanger, director of IT at Samsung Electronics SA.
Boulanger further mentioned that the company is so confident of the local assembly of monitors, that they will come with a three year warranty.
The Korean tech giant also stated that, through the local manufacturing plant, fifty people have been employed to produce computer monitors - stimulating greater access to affordable monitors while additionally creating a larger opportunity for skills development and employment. “While the local manufacturing of monitors and TVs are the only products planned for local assembly at this stage, we are certainly proud to be able to invest further in the local market and contribute to further employment opportunities and developing this country,” concludes Boulanger.
Samsung believes all new monitors that will be introduced will continue to provide the consumer with a smarter technology experience. This includes full LED monitors that are energy efficient, incorporate 3D technology and provide less screen lag, to ensure that both consumers and businesses continue to have access to smarter, greener IT technologies.
In related news, Samsung has recently launched the sub R1000 Galaxy Pocket smartphone locally, the company’s most affordable Galaxy yet.
