LG Electronics today announced their new partnership with British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC (Sky), that will see the Korean company supplying Sky with 15 000 3D TVs. These will be installed in public venues across the UK, on which the public can watch Sky’s live 3D broadcasts.

According to LG this deal is the largest of its kind, enabling Sky to use LG's high tech sets to broadcast its weekly Premier League matches in 3D, kicking off this Spring, just in time to view the unfolding of the Barclays Premier League’s climax.

“LG wants to enable more customers to experience 3D TV technology in action,” explained Havis Kwon, executive vice president and head of the LCD division of LG. “Watching live 3D sports broadcasts in public areas brings fans as close to the game as possible without having to step into the stadium. These partnerships will help consumers become more familiar with 3D TVs and that can only be a positive for the industry and innovation.”
