Sony Ericsson Aspen announced
By Hanleigh Daniels 3 February 2010 | Categories: newsSony Ericsson announced their latest eco-friendly phone within the GreenHeart range today, the Aspen, the first phone to come out with Windows Mobile 6.5.3.
WinMo 6.5.3 is Microsoft's latest mobile OS offering and sports a more finger-friendly layout, support for capacitive touch-screen phones, as well as support for multi-touch.
The Aspen features a QWERTY keyboard for fast and easy typing and a 2.4" QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) TFT LCD touch-screen. The WinMo UI has been customised to include Slide View, a SE feature which allows you to quickly access commonly used apps. A 3.5 mm audio jack, a 3.2 megapixel camera supporting multi-shot, A-GPS with Google Maps, Wi-Fi and a microSD expansion slot are also present. You’ll even be able to secure your data stored on the phone via Microsoft’s MyPhone service, which enables you to remotely erase phone data if your phone is stolen.
Similar to the other phones in the GreenHeart range, such as the Naite, the Aspen is constructed from recycled plastics and is painted using waterborne paint that isn’t filled with harmful compounds. There’s also an electronic manual and reduced phone packaging, saving paper and the device is packaged with an energy efficient phone charger.
“Sony Ericsson Aspen is the business phone with a conscience, perfect for any consumer or company who want to make a green choice in their daily work life,” explained Quentin Cordier, Global Marketing Manager for Sony Ericsson.
There is no official word on when the phone will be released in South Africa, but Q2 2010 looks likely.
