Sony has unveiled a new notebook boasting 3D technology at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas yesterday, dubbed the VAIO F Series 3D laptop. It looks set to take on a range of 3D notebooks from the Japanese company’s competitors, the likes of the Asus G51J 3D Gaming Notebook, Acer’s Aspire 5738G as well as the LG Xnote A510. 

The VAIO F Series 3D laptop sports Sony’s Full HD (1920 x 1080) 16" 3D LED widescreen backlight display, which employs a built-in 3D sync transmitter and includes 3D active shutter glasses. This allows users to view 3D movies as well as photos in full HD (1080p) picture quality, plus play certain supported gaming titles in 3D. It also features a 3D button that enables them to convert 2D HD video and DVD/Blu-ray movies to 3D in real time. 

Taking care of the processing will be Intel’s second generation Core i7 CPU with four cores and support for Intel Hyper-Threading as well as Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. The graphics are done and dusted via Nvidia’s newly announced GeForce 500M series (a Nvidia GeForce GT 540M with 1 GB of dedicated VRAM).
